Play Zone FAQ

What do I need to do to play in site's championships?
You have two options:
  1. Become a member of the existing competition. To do so you need to send a membership request to any competition here. Participate in competitions with a large number of vacancies. After you become a competition member you need to send a member request for a championship for this competition (where open vacancy is available).
  2. Create your own competition and championship. You can find more information about competition creation here. And about championship creation - here.
What does "double bet" mean and how to use it in the game?
"Double bet" is one of the following bets "home/away", "home/draw", "draw/away". Each championship has a limited number of such "double bets" for hosts and guests. Usually, players use "double bet" for equal teams there game result is not obvious. You need to be careful with "double bets" in championships where extra time rule applies.
How to score a goal in extra time for the specific game?
To score a goal in extra time you need to have "single bet" versus "double bet" other player has.
How is extra time score calculated in case of exact score championships?
During the extra time for exact score championships error is calculated for each tour event (TE) based on the error in total goals counts, error in result and error in goals difference using next formula:
TE_error = (total goals error) + 2*(goals difference error) + 2*(result error).
Goals are summed for each of tour events.
A goal in extra time is scored by player whos error is less.

Example for three tour events.
Matches:
Red Sox - Indians
Astros - Braves
Cubs - Rockies

Players bets:
Player 1: 3:1 1:2 1:3
Player 2: 2:0 1:1 1:1

Assume real events finished with these scores: 2:0, 2:1 and 1:2.

During regular time Player 1 guessed goals differential for first tours event and score for second tour event scoring 2 + 1 = 3 goals. Player 2 guessed exact score for first tour event which is equal to 3 goals too. This is a draw during regular time. To determine a winner we need to calculate combined errors for each player.

Player's 1 error for the first event: 1*|(3+1)-(2+0)| + 2*|(3-1)-(2-0)| + 2*0 = 2 + 0 + 0 = 2
Player's 1 error for the second event: 1*|(1+2)-(2+1)| + 2*|(1-2)-(2-1)| + 2*1 = 0 + 4 + 2 = 6
Player's 1 error fof the third event: 1*|(1+3)-(1+2)| + 2*|(1-3)-(1-2)| + 2*0 = 1 + 2 + 0 = 3
Total error for Player 1 is 2 + 6 + 3 = 11

Player's 2 error for the first event: 1*|(2+0)-(2+0)| + 2*|(2-0)-(2-0)| + 2*0 = 0 + 0 + 0 = 0
Player's 2 error for the second event: 1*|(1+1)-(2+1)| + 2*|(1-1)-(2-1)| + 2*1 = 1 + 2 + 2 = 5
Player's 2 error for the third event: 1*|(1+1)-(1+2)| + 2*|(1-1)-(1-2)| + 2*1 = 1 + 2 + 2 = 5
Total error for Player 2 is 0 + 5 + 5 = 10

Player 2 made the lesser error in prognosis (10 vs 11) and winning the game during extra time.
How is the score calculated in extra time for all cup stage matches?
Extra time goals are summed for each cup stage match.
How is the score calculated during penalties in a specific match?
Hosts win in case of host's even win count for all tour events. Guests win in case of host's odd win count.
How is the score calculated during penalties by priorities in a specific match by results and scores?
In addition to usual bets, players need to set priorities for each match from 1 to N (where N is the number of tour events - TE) in order of priority. I.e. player is more sure about the result for the specific match he/she put higher priority setting lesser priority number.
Example for 4 TE
Schedule for soccer:
Dolphins - Chiefs
Ravens - Jaguars
Redskins - Rams
Packers - Buccaneers

Player's bets: (1 - hosts win, X - draw, 2 - guests wins)
Player 1: 1, Х, Х, 2
Player 2: 1, Х, Х, 2
Near each TE players set priorities for each match:
Player 1: 4(sure the less), 2, 1(sure the most), 3
Player 2: 2, 3, 4, 1
For example, matches finished with next results: Х, 2, Х, 2

Draw during standard time.
Now we start comparing priorities and results starting from the highest priority:
Priority 1. Redskins - Rams Player 1 (guessed). Packers - Buccaneers Player 2 (guessed)
Priority 2. Ravens - Jaguars Player 2 (not guessed). Dolphins - Chiefs Player 2 (not guessed)
Priority 3. Packers - Buccaneers Player 1 (guessed). Ravens - Jaguars Player 2 (not guessed)
Player 1 won since guessed result with higher priority.
Note: If the result was guessed by single bet vs other player's double bet, the player with a single bet scores a goal.
How is the score calculated for prioritized penalties in the specific match of an alemorno championship?
It is important to set priorities in the order of assurance with the specific score. Guesses for each column are compared during penalties.
The comparison starts at first column of the first match than at first column of the return match than at second column of the first match and so on. All tour event are compared this way until the first goal. The fifth column is not counted.

Example of schedule:
Red Sox - Yankees
Cubs - Brewers

Player 1 bets:

Red Sox - Yankees 0:1 1:1 2:1 1:2 1:2
Сubs - Brewers 0:1 1:1 2:1 1:2 1:2

Player 2 bets:
Red Sox - Yankees 0:1 0:0 0:2 1:2
Cubs - Brewers 1:0 1:1 0:1 0:2

Real matches ended:
Red Sox - Yankees 1:2
Cubs - Brewers 0:2

Player 1 guessed score 1:2 twice in the first tour event, Player 1 guessed once. Player 1 scored first 1:0. Then Player 2 scored in the second TE, but Player 1 didn't. Score after regular time is 1:1.

Now it is time for penalties. On the first 3 columns, no one guessed the exact score. But in the fourth column, both players guessed the score of the first TE. This didn't help to identify the winner. So we move to the second TE. Here Player 2 guessed in the 4th column, but not Player 1. So Player 2 scored a goal and won.
How is score calculated during classical penalties for all cup matches?
All the penalties goals are summed for each match.
Example 1:
1st match: player А won in penalties
2nd match: player B won in penalties
3rd match: player B won in penalties
Final penalties score is 1:2 in favor of player B

Example 2:
1st match: player A won during penalties
2nd match: player A won during penalties
3rd match: player B won during penalties
Final penalties score is 2:1 in favor of player A

In this example, player B lost his chances to win by penalties after the second game in series!

Example 3:
1st match: player A won during penalties
2nd match: player B won during penalties
Final penalties score is 1:1

Example 3 show what this criterion is not enough for even match count. Be careful with it!
When can I start betting?
As soon as you become championship member and schedule for the next tour is ready.
In which timezone match start time is shown: UTC or profile settings?
User profile settings. You can change timezone to any you like (it is recommended to use your current timezone).
Where on the site can I find a calendar of my future matches?
You can find the calendar of future and past matches on the profile page. Matches are shown in the order of tour start time for the championship. You can navigate to specific match (to make a bet or view the tour event results) by clicking on the match in the calendar.
If I have a few tours on the same day, how calendar will look like?
If tours start at different times it will show them in start time order. If tours start at the same time it will show them one under other.
The number of matches on the tour is 8. Is it fixed?
You can choose from 1 to 20 tour events during championship creation.
How is the rating calculated?
R = coeff * A + B
A = points / games
B = (sg / events) + (db / 2 / events)
there: coeff - program complexity (currently is 1), later will be calculated based on percentage of guessed results for all the tour events
sg - number of events guessed by single bet
db - number of events guessed by double bet
events - number of events

points are calculated for each event and summed:
a win during a regular time - 3
a win during extra time - 2
a win during penalties - 1.5
a defeat during penalties - 1.25
a defeat during extra time - 1
a draw - 1
a defeat - 0
How does priority rule work during all cup events in exact results and scores guessing?
Priorities work the same way as during single match except for the order.
If the stage has 3 matches then priorities are calculated in the following order:
Match #1 first priority -> Match 2 first priority -> Match 3 first priority -> Match 2 second priority -> Match 2 second priority -> etc
A comparison is performed until the first goal
What does "headstart" mean and how it is calculated?
Headstart - is a bet on the team or sportsman with final result modification.
Headstart can be negative (on the favorite), positive (on outsider) or zero.
Example: Chicago Bears (-20) – Philadelphia Eagles
If Bears wins with difference 21 or more points hosts will "win"
If Bears wins with difference 20 game will finish with a draw
If Bears wins with difference less than 20 points, the game finishes with a draw or Philadelphia Eagle win guests will "win"
What does "range" mean and how it is calculated?
The range is all game possible scores differences which lead to a draw result"
Example 1: Range '1' or (-0.5 ; 0.5).
Mexico (-1 ; 1) : USA
If goals difference 0 or 1 (0:0, 1:0, 0:1, 2:1 etc) game result will be a draw
If Mexico wins with goals difference 2 or more (2:0, 3:1, 4:1 etc) the game result will be a home
If the USA wins with goals difference 2 or more (0:2, 1:3, 1:4 etc) the game result will be the away
Example 2: Range '5' with head start '-11' or (-8.5 ; -13.5)
Basketball. Miami (-13.5 ; -8.5) - Chicago
If Miami wins with score difference 9 to 13 points (79:70, 81:70, 83:70 etc) result will be the draw
If Miami wins with score difference more than 13 points (84:70, 90:70, 100:75) result will be the home
If Miami wins with score difference less than 9 points, the game finishes with a draw or Chicago wins (78:70, 70:70, 80:90) result will be away
How prediction with type "Alemorno" works?
During the game format "Alemorno", players make bets for the exact score for each of tour events (TE). But players can make several exact score unique bets for the same TE. Usually players need to bet on N unique scores (without duplicates 1:0 2:0 1:2 1:1 but not 1:0 1:0 1:2 1:1).
There are championship configurations with advantage for hosts there "home" player makes N+1 bets and additional bet can duplicate other bet (1:0 1:2 2:1 2:2 2:2 but not 1:0 1:0 2:1 2:2 2:2).
A goal is scored when one player guessed more scores for TE than a rival. For Alemorno championships with advantage, hosts can score 2 goals.
What is a replay and when does it take place?
Replay is an additional match during extra tour instead of an unplayed tour. Replays can be set only by championship owner in case of events described in championship regulations.
It is recommended to use replays only for force majeure circumstances
To allow replays championship owner have to choose this option during championship creation.
Extra tours are marked as ET1, ET2, ET3 etc.
Some limitations:
* replay days are allowed only after each third tour (after 3rd, 6th etc) + one extra tour at the end of championship
* it is allowed to replay match only after last finished tour. If there is another finished tour after it replays are not allowed.
* it is not allowed to create 2 replays for one player on the same extra tour. For example, if the player already replays tour 1, it is not allowed to replay also tour 2 for the same player
* replays are not allowed for Swiss-system championships
